BIG NEWS: Dates Of Installment Cash For Disability Persons Issued

Living with a disability presents significant challenges, particularly when it impacts one’s ability to work and earn an income. Fortunately, the South African government offers financial assistance through the SASSA Disability Grant to individuals who are physically or mentally unable to work for an extended period.

The grant consists of two parts: temporary and permanent. The Permanent Disability Grant is available to individuals whose disability is expected to last longer than a year. However, a “permanent” grant does not imply lifelong support; it simply indicates that the disability will persist for more than 12 months.

Conversely, the Temporary Disability Grant is for those whose disability is expected to last between six and 12 months. It offers short-term financial assistance during the recovery or adjustment period.

Eligible individuals receive the disability grant monthly to help sustain themselves. For June 2024, the grant distribution is scheduled for the 5th of June.

Cash Payments: Collection of cash at specific pay points on designated days.

Bank Deposits: Direct deposit into your bank account, including Postbank accounts.

Direct Payments to Institutions: For individuals in private care facilities not funded by the state, the grant can be paid directly to these institutions. If a recipient moves into a state-funded care facility, their grant is reduced to 25% of the full amount starting from the fourth month. This reduced amount continues until they leave the facility, after which the full grant amount is immediately restored.
