How to Appeal Your R370 Sassa Grant for May 2024

Every month, numerous South Africans apply for the SRD grant, but not all applications are approved. For those whose applications are rejected, there’s an avenue for appeal through the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).

Sassa administers various permanent grants to assist financially vulnerable individuals in South Africa, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid. Since 2020, Sassa has also been offering the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant to unemployed individuals.

NSFAS Allowances Will be Paid to Universities Until July

Initially set at R350 per month, the value of the SRD grant was increased to R370 per month in March 2024, effective from 1 April.

While SRD grant applications are accepted monthly, some may be rejected. In such cases, Sassa permits rejected applicants to lodge an appeal for reconsideration.
