How to Activate Your New SASSA Gold Card

What You’ll Need

- Your mobile phone (linked to your SASSA application)
Step-by-Step Guide to Activate Your SASSA Card
1. Find a Post Office ATM
Locate an ATM that is affiliated with Postbank. These ATMs are equipped to activate SASSA cards.
2. Insert Your Card
Carefully insert your new SASSA card into the ATM’s card slot with the chip side facing upwards.
3. Choose Your Language
The ATM screen will display several language options. Select the language you are most comfortable with.
4. Enter Your SASSA Card PIN
Enter the PIN you received when you collected your card. This PIN is not the same as your ID number or phone PIN. If you haven’t received a PIN or have forgotten it, contact SASSA for assistance.
5. Create Your New PIN
After entering your temporary PIN, you’ll be prompted to create a new, personal PIN. Choose a four-digit number that you will remember easily but is hard for others to guess.
6. Confirm Your New PIN
Re-enter your new PIN to confirm it.
7. Activation in Progress
The ATM will display a message indicating that your card activation is in progress. This should only take a few moments.
8. Activation Complete
Once the activation is successful, you’ll see a confirmation message. Your SASSA card is now ready to use for withdrawing cash or making purchases.

- Don’t Share Your PIN: Never share your PIN with anyone, not even family or friends. Keep it private to ensure your money is safe.
- Change Your PIN Regularly: For extra security, change your PIN from time to time.
